It was an experiment and it was fun. I think that this is a good drill for all artists. There is not a lot of "there" there in the concept, but it was a nice exercise. I have been trying to find a good balance of natural world and sci-fi. I enjoy seeing visions of the future that are optimistic, but they seem to miss the drama that a dogfight between concept spaceships ripping through the middle of the piece, an invasion of a robot army or an alien... This is a painting that I created to hang in my house. We have been remodeling the house and I could not decide on what to hang. This may not be right either, but it was a good excuse to finish a high res piece of art for fun. My wife requested a peaceful landscape. I will be printing this on canvas about 55" wide. In this video, the 10 poses that were sketched out in the last episode are given some color while I reviewed the responses. #8 seemed to be the favorite. There are others that I may want to finish out, but in this video, I pushed forward on #8. It was close to Christmas when I was painting this so I was going with a "Santa's helper" look at first, then just a classy red... I will try to streamline the process through the year.  This week I travelled to New York on a business trip. I was a very inspiring trip, even if it doesnt reflect in this piece. The first night I was having a drink at a bar and looked up at some of the images on the walls and there were all these models putting on make-up. It was head shots, but I could see the pin-up potential. The next night I went to see the Adams Family on Broadway, which was not that great, but I thought I should do a goth pin-up...  It has been a while since I have completed a new pin-up with a video. sorry about that. It is the time of year that I give a pin-up to my nephews and cousins, so this is their gift. It was fun to get back into it. I knew that this was the type of pose that I wanted to do, but had to work through it. You can tell by how many times I redrew and tried different color combinations that I was searching for what the "look" of this pose could be....  http://scotdrake.com/ This was a fun little exercise. It is obviously not a well thought out concept, but I wanted to show depth in a scene with a complexity of scale that was represented by using composition, perspective, atmosphere, and indicated details.
