Blonde Pin-up Speed Painting by Drake Pin-up
It has been a while since I have completed a new pin-up with a video. sorry about that. It is the time of year that I give a pin-up to my nephews and cousins, so this is their gift. It was fun to get back into it. I knew that this was the type of pose that I wanted to do, but had to work through it. You can tell by how many times I redrew and tried different color combinations that I was searching for what the "look" of this pose could be. Hope you enjoy. http://drakepin-up.com/

 This is the second video in the Interactive Drake pin-up project. In this video, the 10 poses that were sketched out in the last episode are given some color while I reviewed the responses. #8 seemed to be the favorite. There are others that I may want to finish out, but in this video, I pushed forward on #8. It was close to Christmas when I was painting this so I was going with a "Santa's helper" look at first, then just a classy red...  the first ever Interactive Drake pin-up project. In this video, 10 poses are sketched out and I am looking for feedback to see which pose you would like to see taken to the next level of finish. These are only exploration of posture and gesture. College basketball is in full force these days and I needed a theme for the week, so here it is. I struggled with the pose for this one and after trying out several final four configurations, I decided to go with a somewhat standard pose with a few new techniques. The biggest change for this weeks style was to go to a thinner line width overall and focus the painting on the forms. I personally like the heavier line weights and feel... This is a painting that I created to hang in my house. We have been remodeling the house and I could not decide on what to hang. This may not be right either, but it was a good excuse to finish a high res piece of art for fun. My wife requested a peaceful landscape. I will be printing this on canvas about 55" wide. It is obviously not a well thought out concept, but I wanted to show depth in a scene with a complexity of scale that was represented by using composition, perspective, atmosphere, and indicated details. My second daughter was born this wednesday and as you can imagine, this was my last priority. I wanted to keep my commitment to a pi-up a week in 2010 so I tried a different technique. In this painting I tried some new brushes and layer effects to create a loose painting style. It was fun, and I liked the sketch, but I think I was too preoccupied to bring it together as a painting....
