Easter Bunny Pin-up Speed Painting (week 14) by DrakePin-up
Happy Easter! This week was supposed to be an easy one because there are always hot bunnies around this time of year. I wanted to try a style that was much more loose than last week. You can tell in the video or with the other images shown on the blog that there were a couple of places along the way that I tried to finish the painting without refining the line work, but my wife thought it looked unfinished, which I agreed. When I went into illustrator to establish the clean lines, I wanted to keep it as graphic as possible. The color needed to be bold and dramatic as well. So I made her a pink monotone bunny with a blue patterned background, and I thought I was finished. I took my computer to an Easter party with my family and tried to start the video compiling. There were several opinions tossed out about the color choices and how she looked to much like pepto bismo pink. I never take offense to criticism and welcomed the feedback. I may not always make the changes desired, but it is good to hear how others perceive your work. After creating several different color studies, this was the one the group voted on. This process is interesting because I am trying so many different techniques and I am finding which ones wok with my style and which ones clash with it. Either way, it is all a great excersize toward a better art form. Thanks for following along this journey.
