About Acrylics Paint Color Pigments: In the world of color in modern acrylics, the emphasis is not so much about traditionalism as it is about performance and innovation. There is no compromise when it comes down to choosing between a traditional fugitive pigment and a lightfast synthetic pigment. The most lightfast pigment always wins. If it doesn't pack a punch, it doesn't make the cut. There are still painters out there looking to find replacement colors to match a futgitive or archaic color from their watercoloring days. Some of the more common colors do have a close modern equivelent, while otherswill regrettable have to be mixed. The truth of the matter is, beyond attempting to match an existing color or re-create a bygone palette, there is a really no practical need for those old pigments.
